Vita, crisis situations and your safety
Last updated: 1 November 2026
This page describes how Vita, the AI coach in Omnivity, behaves when a conversation touches on suicide, self-harm or another crisis. We publish it so that you know what to expect, and because the laws of some US states (for example California and New York) ask operators of AI companions to publish their protocol.
Vita is an AI system
Vita is an artificial intelligence, not a person and not a licensed health professional. Vita introduces itself as an AI coach when you first meet it, and the chat header shows "AI coach" at all times. Vita never pretends to be human.
What Vita does if you write about wanting to hurt yourself or not wanting to live
- Coaching stops. Vita does not continue with food, training or goals.
- Vita answers warmly and directly. It says it is glad you told it and that you deserve support right now.
- Vita shows help you can reach now: the crisis line and the emergency number for your country (see below), and suggests calling or texting them now, or reaching a person you trust. If you may be in immediate danger, Vita puts the emergency number first.
- Vita asks one question: whether there is someone you can reach right now.
- Vita does not assess or diagnose you, discuss methods, ask about plans, lecture, or provide therapy. It stays with you in the conversation.
Vita responds to how you write; it does not read your mind or watch you. Omnivity is not an emergency service and the Services are not monitored by people in real time. If you are in danger, contact your local emergency number.
Where to get help
The app shows the numbers for your country. Some of them:
| Country | Emergency | Crisis line |
|---|---|---|
| United States | 911 | 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline: call or text 988 |
| Canada | 911 | 9-8-8 Suicide Crisis Helpline: call or text 988 |
| United Kingdom | 999 or 112 | Samaritans: 116 123 (free) |
| Other EU countries | 112 | Find your national helpline at findahelpline.com |
| Türkiye | 112 | 112 |
If you are struggling with eating, Vita does not give restriction or "make up for it" tips. It tells you what your body needs and suggests specialist support once: in the US, the National Alliance for Eating Disorders helpline (1-866-662-1235, weekdays); in Türkiye, a doctor or a psychiatrist.
If Vita gets it wrong
If a response from Vita is harmful, offensive or wrong, write to support@getomnivity.com (an in-app report button is coming). We read every report and use it to improve Vita's safeguards.
